How to Use Interactive Templates in ZazzyAgent Flows

An interactive WhatsApp message is more useful than a plain text message when you want customers to choose an action.

Instead of saying:

Reply with 1 for Products, 2 for Pricing or 3 for Support.

you can show the customer clear interactive options.

For example:

View Products

Get Pricing

Talk to Support

This creates a much cleaner WhatsApp experience.

What is an Interactive Template?

An Interactive Template is a richer message component that can combine elements such as:

  • Image or media

  • Header

  • Body text

  • Footer

  • Buttons or interactive actions

The exact options available depend on the WhatsApp message format you're configuring.

The current Flow Builder documentation includes Interactive/Generic Template components for visual cards and interactive customer journeys.

When should you use an Interactive Template?

Use one when you want to combine:

Information + visual content + action

For example:

Here are our current services.

Image

View Services

Book a Consultation

That is more useful than sending three separate text messages.

Example: Main WhatsApp menu

You could create:

Welcome to ABC Business. How can we help?

Our Services

Pricing

Book a Call

The customer taps an option and the corresponding flow continues.

Create the Interactive Template

Open your WhatsApp Flow Builder.

Create or open the flow where you want the message.

Choose the Interactive/Template message component.

Configure the available sections.

Add an image

Images are particularly useful when the message is visual.

Examples:

  • Product image

  • Service illustration

  • Event poster

  • Restaurant menu

  • Promotional creative

Choose an image that supports the message.

Don't add an image simply because the component allows it.

Add the header

Use the header to introduce the content.

Example:

Our Services

A short header is generally easier to understand than a long sentence.

Add the body

The body explains the message.

Example:

Choose the service you'd like to learn more about.

Keep the text short.

The buttons already communicate the next actions, so you don't need to explain the same thing repeatedly.

A footer can contain secondary information where supported.

For example:

Available Monday–Saturday

Use it for supporting information rather than the primary call to action.

Add buttons

Buttons should represent clear actions.

For example:

View Services

Get Pricing

Talk to Sales

Connect the buttons

Each button should lead to the correct next step.

Example:

Interactive Template
        ↓
   ┌────┼────┐
   ↓ ↓ ↓
Services Pricing Sales
   ↓ ↓ ↓
 Flow Flow Human

Use Interactive Templates for products

A product message could show:

Product Image

Premium Package

Designed for businesses that need advanced automation.

View Details

Buy Now

The first button could open more information.

The second could take the customer toward the purchase journey.

Use them for lead generation

Example:

Would you like to learn more about our service?

Book Demo

Request Quote

Ask a Question

The choices can lead to:

  • Booking form

  • Lead qualification

  • AI Agent

  • Human support

Use them for support

Example:

What do you need help with?

Order Issue

Payment Issue

Technical Support

Each option can start a different support path.

Use them as a gateway to WhatsApp Flows

A particularly useful pattern is:

Interactive message

Start structured Flow

For example:

Ready to request a quote?

Request Quote

WhatsApp Flow form.

The customer then fills in:

  • Name

  • Product

  • Budget

  • Requirement

Interactive Template vs plain text

Plain text:

Type "pricing" to see our plans.

Interactive:

View our plans.

See Pricing

The second is easier for customers who don't know what command to type.

Interactive Template vs Quick Replies

Use Quick Replies when the customer is simply choosing between short conversational options.

Use an Interactive Template when the message needs richer presentation, such as an image, structured content or a stronger visual call to action.

Keep the message focused

One message should have one clear objective.

Bad:

Welcome! We sell software, hardware, consulting, training, support and many other services. We also offer discounts. You can visit our website or contact sales or check pricing...

Good:

What would you like to do?

Explore Services

See Pricing

Book a Call

Use meaningful buttons

Good:

Book Demo

See Pricing

Talk to Support

Avoid vague options such as:

Continue

More

unless their meaning is already obvious.

Test the entire journey

After creating the Interactive Template, test every button.

Confirm:

  • The correct message is displayed.

  • The correct branch starts.

  • The correct Flow opens.

  • Customer information is captured where required.

  • Human handoff works where configured.

Common problems

Template appears but buttons do nothing

Check the button's connected destination.

Wrong flow opens

Check the button-to-flow mapping.

Image isn't displayed

Check the media configuration and supported image requirements.

Customer receives an unexpected message

Check whether the correct template/flow is being used.

Best use cases

Interactive Templates work particularly well for:

  • Main menus

  • Product introductions

  • Service menus

  • Sales CTAs

  • Support categories

  • Booking entry points

  • Lead-generation journeys

The basic principle is:

Show the customer something useful, then give them a clear next action.
