WhatsApp Display Name Not Showing? Causes and Fixes

Updated
View as Markdown

You've changed your WhatsApp display name, but customers are still seeing the old name or the new name isn't appearing where you expect it.

This can happen for several reasons.

Work through the checks below before changing your account again.

What is a WhatsApp display name?

Your WhatsApp display name is the business name shown as part of your WhatsApp business presence.

It is different from simply changing the name of your Meta Business account or the name you use inside ZazzyAgent.

Why isn't my display name showing?

Common causes include:

  • The display name hasn't completed the required Meta review.

  • The change was made recently.

  • Meta and ZazzyAgent haven't synchronized the latest information.

  • You're looking at the wrong WhatsApp account.

  • The old information is still cached or hasn't propagated.

  • The display-name configuration wasn't actually updated.

1. Check the display-name status

Start in your Meta WhatsApp business settings.

Confirm whether the display name is:

  • Pending

  • Approved

  • Rejected

  • Otherwise restricted

The next step depends on the current status.

2. Check whether you changed the correct WhatsApp account

Businesses with multiple WhatsApp accounts can accidentally change one account while checking another.

Confirm:

  • Correct Meta business

  • Correct WABA

  • Correct phone number

3. Sync Meta information with ZazzyAgent

If you've changed the display name in Meta, synchronize the WhatsApp account information in ZazzyAgent when the sync option is available in connect Whatsapp tab.

This helps pull the latest information into the platform.

4. Give Meta changes time to propagate

A recently submitted change may not appear immediately everywhere.

Avoid repeatedly changing the display name while a previous change is still being processed.

5. Check whether Meta rejected the display name

If Meta rejected the name, synchronizing it won't turn it into an approved display name.

Review the reason for rejection and choose a compliant name.

Common display-name mistakes

Using a name unrelated to the business

Your display name should represent the business customers expect to interact with.

Making unnecessary changes

Frequent changes can make troubleshooting harder.

Choose an appropriate display name and keep it consistent with your business identity.

Confusing Meta business name and WhatsApp display name

They're related but aren't necessarily the same field.

Changing one does not mean every Meta or WhatsApp screen will immediately change.

Approved but old name still showing

Use this sequence:

Confirm approval

Confirm correct WABA

Sync Meta information

Refresh

Test again

If the old name remains, verify that you're checking the exact WhatsApp number and account where the change was made.

Display name was rejected

Don't simply submit the same name again.

Review the reason provided by Meta.

Then choose a better name that accurately represents your business.

A simple troubleshooting checklist

  • [ ] Correct Meta Business selected

  • [ ] Correct WABA selected

  • [ ] Correct WhatsApp number selected

  • [ ] Display name status checked

  • [ ] Name approved

  • [ ] Meta information synchronized

  • [ ] ZazzyAgent refreshed

  • [ ] Test performed again

When to contact support

If the name is confirmed as approved, you're using the correct WABA and number, the Meta information has been synchronized, and the name still does not appear correctly, gather:

  • WhatsApp number

  • WABA information

  • Current display-name status

  • Screenshot of the Meta status

  • Screenshot of what ZazzyAgent shows

Having those details makes troubleshooting much faster.

The key is to distinguish between Meta approval, account selection, and synchronization. Changing the name alone does not guarantee that every connected system immediately displays the new value.
