How to Get WhatsApp API and Connect WhatsApp to ZazzyAgent
To use WhatsApp automation through ZazzyAgent, you need access to the WhatsApp Business Platform(zazzyagent) and a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) managed through Meta.
ZazzyAgent connects your WhatsApp business assets to the platform so you can manage customer conversations, automation, templates and other WhatsApp features from one place.
This guide explains what you need, how the connection works and what to check when something goes wrong.
What is WhatsApp API?
WhatsApp API, also referred to as the WhatsApp Business Platform, is the business messaging infrastructure that allows software platforms to send and receive WhatsApp messages programmatically.
It is different from using the regular WhatsApp mobile application.
With the API, software such as ZazzyAgent can:
Receive customer messages
Send automated replies
Use approved WhatsApp templates
Run chatbot automations
Send broadcasts
Build follow-up workflows
Connect conversations to business systems
What do I need before connecting WhatsApp?
Prepare these items before starting.
1. Meta account
You need a Meta account that can access your business assets.
2. Meta Business account
Your business should be set up in Meta's business environment.
Depending on Meta's current terminology and interface, you may see references to Meta Business Suite, Business Portfolio or related business-management screens.
3. WhatsApp Business Account
You need a WABA associated with your business.
A WABA is the Meta business account used to manage your WhatsApp Business Platform assets.
4. WhatsApp phone number
You need an eligible phone number for the WhatsApp Business Platform.
The number also needs to be available for the onboarding process and verification.
5. Administrative access
The Meta account you're using should have the permissions required to manage the business and WhatsApp assets.
6. Access to the phone number
You may need access to SMS or voice calls during phone-number verification.
The current Embedded Signup workflow used by the underlying platform covers business selection, WhatsApp account selection, phone verification and permission approval.
Do I need a WABA?
Yes.
A WABA is the WhatsApp Business Account used by Meta to manage your WhatsApp Business Platform assets.
You can think of it like this:
Meta Business → WABA → WhatsApp phone number → ZazzyAgent
ZazzyAgent connects to those WhatsApp business assets rather than replacing Meta's WhatsApp infrastructure.
Do I need Meta Business verification?
Meta verification requirements can depend on the business and the current Meta onboarding process.
Your Meta business information should be complete and accurate, and you should be prepared to provide business information or documents if Meta asks for them.
Do not assume that every business sees exactly the same Meta screens. Meta can change the verification and onboarding experience over time.
How to connect WhatsApp to ZazzyAgent
Once your Meta assets are ready:
Step 1: Open ZazzyAgent
Log in to your ZazzyAgent dashboard.
Open the WhatsApp connection area.
Depending on the current ZazzyAgent interface, this may be presented as Connect WhatsApp, Connect Account, or a similar WhatsApp connection option.
Step 2: Start the Meta connection
Start the WhatsApp connection process.
The onboarding window will take you into Meta's authorization flow.
Step 3: Log in to Meta
Use the Meta account that has administrative access to the business and WhatsApp assets you want to connect.
Step 4: Choose your business
Select the correct Meta business/business portfolio.
Be careful when you manage multiple businesses.
Choosing the wrong business can make the rest of the setup confusing.
Step 5: Choose your WABA
Select the WhatsApp Business Account you want to connect.
Step 6: Select your phone number
Choose the eligible WhatsApp phone number.
Step 7: Verify the number
Complete the phone-number verification requested by Meta.
Step 8: Approve permissions
Review the requested permissions and allow the access required for the WhatsApp connection.
Step 9: Finish setup
Complete the remaining Meta onboarding steps.
Once the process finishes, return to ZazzyAgent and confirm that the WhatsApp account appears as connected.
The current reference workflow follows this same general process: Meta login → business selection → WhatsApp account selection → phone verification → permissions → connection confirmation.
What should happen after connecting WhatsApp?
Your connected WhatsApp account should become available in ZazzyAgent.
You can then begin configuring the features available for that account, such as:
WhatsApp messaging
Templates
Flows
Automation
Broadcasts
Sequences
Inbox
AI agents
What happens to my existing WhatsApp number?
This depends on the number's current registration and Meta's onboarding options.
A number already registered with WhatsApp may need to be migrated or have its existing WhatsApp registration removed before it can be onboarded through the API.
Do not delete your existing WhatsApp account casually if you are unsure about the migration path.
Check the current Meta onboarding instructions for the number before making a change.
Common WhatsApp connection problems
My WABA doesn't appear
Check that:
You are logged in with the correct Meta account.
You have the required permissions.
You selected the correct Meta business.
The WABA belongs to that business.
The WABA is available for the connection process.
My phone number doesn't appear
Check:
The number belongs to the WABA you're selecting.
The number is eligible for the WhatsApp Business Platform.
You are using the correct Meta business.
Your Meta permissions are correct.
Meta says I don't have permission
You may be logged in with a Meta account that can access Facebook but does not have sufficient business/WABA permissions.
Use the Meta account with the appropriate administrative access.
OTP isn't arriving
Check:
The phone number is correct.
You can receive SMS/calls.
Your carrier is not blocking verification messages.
You haven't requested too many codes in a short period.
Setup finished but WhatsApp isn't visible in ZazzyAgent
Refresh the dashboard and check the WhatsApp connection area.
If it still does not appear, check the Meta assets again and repeat the connection process if needed.
The current underlying documentation also identifies incomplete signup, missing permissions and Meta-side issues as common causes of connection failures.
WhatsApp setup checklist
Before you start:
[ ] Meta account ready
[ ] Meta Business account/business portfolio ready
[ ] WABA available
[ ] Eligible phone number available
[ ] Administrative access available
[ ] Access to phone-number verification
[ ] Correct Meta business selected
[ ] Required permissions approved
Once those are ready, connecting WhatsApp to ZazzyAgent is much easier.
After WhatsApp is connected
Don't immediately build a huge chatbot.
Start with a simple test:
Send a message from a separate WhatsApp number.
Confirm the message reaches ZazzyAgent.
Confirm your automation responds.
Confirm the conversation appears in the inbox.
Then start configuring templates, AI and advanced automation.
