Changed WhatsApp Display Name? Do You Need to Register Again?
You changed your WhatsApp display name in Meta and now you're wondering whether you need to use Register Phone in ZazzyAgent.
The answer depends on what changed and how your WhatsApp account is currently configured.
The ZazzyAgent registration interface specifically tells users to consider registration again after changing the phone number or display name.
What should you do after changing the display name?
Use this order:
1. Change the display name in Meta.
2. Check the Meta status.
3. Allow the change to process.
4. Synchronize the relevant Meta/WhatsApp information in ZazzyAgent.
5. Register the phone again only when the connection workflow requires it.
Don't immediately register repeatedly before checking whether the Meta change has been processed.
Why can the old name remain visible?
A display-name change can involve several systems:
Meta
↓
WhatsApp Business Account
↓
ZazzyAgent
↓
Customer-facing WhatsApp
The update may not appear in every place at exactly the same moment.
Check Meta first
Confirm the new display name is actually present in your Meta WhatsApp business settings.
If Meta hasn't accepted or processed the change yet, ZazzyAgent cannot make an unapproved name appear.
Then sync ZazzyAgent
After the Meta-side change has been processed, synchronize the WhatsApp account information in ZazzyAgent when the sync option is available.
This is especially useful if ZazzyAgent still displays the old business information.
When should I use Register Phone?
The ZazzyAgent registration instructions specifically say to register again when you've changed your phone number or display name.
So if you've changed your display name and the registration workflow indicates that registration is required, open Register Phone and complete it using the current six-digit WhatsApp two-step verification PIN.
If your PIN has never been changed from the default used during automatic registration, the current ZazzyAgent setup instructions identify:
123456
as the default PIN.
Do I need to register if everything already looks correct?
No.
If:
Meta shows the new name.
ZazzyAgent shows the new name.
Customers see the expected name.
WhatsApp messaging works.
there is no reason to perform registration again simply for maintenance.
What if my display name still isn't visible?
Go through:
Step 1 — Check Meta status
Is the new name approved/active?
Step 2 — Check the correct WABA
Make sure you're looking at the same WABA connected to ZazzyAgent.
Step 3 — Check the correct phone number
Businesses with multiple numbers can accidentally update one number while checking another.
Step 4 — Sync Meta information
Refresh the connected information in ZazzyAgent.
Step 5 — Check Register Phone
If the ZazzyAgent workflow indicates that the number needs registration after the display-name change, complete that step.
Step 6 — Test again
Check the customer's view using a separate WhatsApp account.
Don't change the name repeatedly
If Meta is still processing a change, repeated modifications can make the situation harder to understand.
Pick the correct business display name, submit it, and allow the process to complete.
What PIN should I use?
Use the current WhatsApp Business Platform two-step verification PIN.
If you changed it previously, use your new PIN.
Don't use your Meta password.
Don't use the phone-number verification OTP.
What if I get a PIN error?
Check whether your WhatsApp two-step verification PIN was changed previously.
If it was, the old default PIN will no longer be correct.
Use the current PIN associated with the WhatsApp number.
Should I enable Local Storage?
Only if your number matches the specific requirement:
Indian +91 number
Migrated from another WhatsApp provider
If this doesn't describe your number, leave Local Storage unchecked.
The correct order
Change Display Name in Meta
↓
Check Meta status
↓
Sync ZazzyAgent
↓
Still requires registration?
↓
Yes
↓
Register Phone
↓
Enter current 6-digit PIN
↓
Test display name
The important point is that Register Phone isn't a general-purpose "refresh" button.
Use it as part of the WhatsApp registration workflow when the connection requires it.
